Comedian Richard Lewis has made a career out of his depression. On stage doing stand-up comedy, he's very funny pacing up and down and pulling his hair. In his book he tells us through a series of short essays about how he grew up and how he got this way. He talks about his alcoholism, and calls himself a recovering lunatic. His story is meant to be hopeful and entertaining, but as we wade through his fears, obsessions and neurotic miseries we come to the conclusion that we are getting depressed with him.
