When this book first came out, it was an incredible best seller. No one had gone into every corner of horrible murder and taken the reader along for a ghastly ride before Truman Capote did in this book. On November 15, 1959 in a small town in Kansas four members of a family by the name of Clutter were murdered. The murders were savage. There were almost no clues and no apparent motive for the crime.

Capote reconstructs the murder and investigation that led to the capture, trial and execution of the killers. In writing this book, he has given us the inside tale and shows us every detail of the crimes and the capture. Capote was famous before he wrote "In Cold Blood," but it was this book that made him an idolized writer.

Reader Scott Brick has performed in film and other media. He made tours as Cyrano and Macbeth, which brought him much-deserved fame. Further, he is a perfect reader for this famous novel.

People of a certain age will always remember Capote for the lighter things he wrote like "Breakfast at Tiffany's," and his appearances on The Tonight Show and Dick Cavett so many years ago, but we will never forget the chilling nightmare of "In Cold Blood."
