This is the ideal gift for the hunting enthusiast in your house, or any budding gamer. Deer Hunter is a 3D simulation of a complete deer hunting season. You begin by outfitting your virtual hunter with weapons and skills. Then you choose a season and locale, noting local ordinances and license requirements, and you're off! The game lets you choose from a host of weapons and locations, and makes you take all of the steps a real hunter would have to take in preparation. The graphics and sound effects are excellent and really add to the experience. On the technical side, the software takes up a whopping 400MB of disk space for a full installl, and severely taxes the computing resources of my little Cyrix MII 366 MMX system. But if the manly man in your house is cooped up this winter away from his favorite sport, this could help him through the withdrawl symptoms. And the multiplayer capabilities and other Internet resources will keep him happy for a long time.
