Review of "Fox" by Margaret Wild, Ron Brooks

This very attractive picture book was published in Australia last year. This is the story of a dog that rescued a bird during a forest fire. The dog and the magpie are close friends until a fox enters the forest and tries to lure the bird away. The fox can run fast, and the magpie cannot fly any longer because of the fire, so she takes off on the back of the fox.

The tale is told with a tapestry of words that look like hand printed story. This picture book has a unique style, and might retain a young reader's interest for quite a while.
