One of my favorite writers is Donald Westlake. I enjoy his "big caper" mysteries, his humor, and his puzzling plots where things get messed up somehow, every time. In "Baby Would I Lie?" we are introduced to Sara Joslyn. She is a writer for a magazine called "Trend." She has arrived in Branson, MO to do a piece on the new Nashville. Her assignment is to cover the trial of the Ray Jones, a country-western star who has been accused of rape and murder.

Sara used to work for a sleazy supermarket tabloid, and she is hoping to beat out their reporter with a big story about the trial. The other story that Sara is working on is finding that the cowboy singer has been putting one over on the IRS.

There is no way to describe the fun and the non-stop action in this wonderful tale of a culture where cowboy boots and "big hair" color the lives of the characters. This is, of course, a funny, convoluted mystery. You will enjoy every minute of the skilled reading of this audiobook by Nicola Sheara.
