Just the name of Martin Yan of "Yan Can Cook" fame evokes good feelings. This PBS chef has delighted audiences with his cooking lessons for years. He is the best and he serves his food with a lot of humor and good instructions. In this book you can learn to cook with a wok, a steamer, and a cleaver. Watch out for the cleaver! Yan can chop veggies like a buzz saw. You had best try to be a bit slower than he is.

Yan gives us the Chinese theories for healing foods and launches us into instructions on preparing a banquet for 20 guests. Most of the recipes are for two to six hungry people who love Chinese food and desire to learn to cook their own. You get 100 recipes to try, and every one is easy to make because Yan can teach, too.
