Elmore Leonard just keeps getting better in giving us a good plot, a good mystery and great characters. This time, we meet Dennis Lenahan whose occupation is "stunt diver." Dennis dives from a platform that is 80 feet in the air. He dives into a small water tank. Dennis is hired to do his trick dives in front of a new gambling casino in Tishomingo, Mississippi. On one of his first days at this new show, he is up on the high platform just checking out things when he sees a murder taking place down below. Throughout the book the bad guys are not quite sure that the diver really saw them... and the diver is keeping mum.

The rest of the plot revolves around the new casino and the owners, along with a group of colorful villians and gamblers. Wonderful female characters fill up the scene to the pleasure of the reader. It all is supposed to come to a head during a big event called a "Re-enactment" of a Civil War battle.

The book is a pleasure to read and leaves you with a delighted glow over having met new characters that are involved in this intricate plot.
