It's been a year since we lost this great author. So what some of his friends have done is to clear out his computer and take all of the early works they could find and put them together in an entirely new book. "THE SALMON OF DOUBT" is the title of a story Adams wrote when he was 12.

Many famous people knew and loved Adams and his hilarious writing. They are quoted and given some space in this collection. It's interesting and there is no question that Douglas Adams could write and take the reader on a trip to whatever subject he was entertaining at the moment. I and all of his fans will sorely miss him. The problem we face now is just that Douglas Adams had one great story idea in his lifetime - "The Hitchhikers Guide." It was a marvelous work and through all of the works that eminated from that idea we giggled, snorted and marveled over this humorous writer who kept us wanting more bizarre plots and characters. I personally loved Marvin the Robot and the depressed elevator who only went "down.

When Adams wrote the first "Dirk Gently" book I was greatly please to obtain my first copy. I liked it, but I also recognized that it was no "Hitchhiker's Guide".

The Guide was originally done on radio, followed by a book, a television program, a quite excellent computer game, and audio tapes. They are all good, but best of all is to pick up one of the books and slowly read with delight the adventures of Arthur Dent.

I will miss Douglas Adams, but his real books are far better than this weak anthology.
