Sandra Bullock takes a welcome turn at a dramatic role in this psychological thriller. Staged almost like an episode of Coulmbo, the audience is led to believe that two high school misfits are guilty of a senseless murder. The police team investigating the crime follow the clues to a dope dealer, but Our Miss Bullock believes that they are being strung along the path that the two teenages have laid out for them. Bullock's character is a crime-victim-turned-cop, with some typical emotional baggage that we rather expect in such stories, but she's still a very likeable and believeable character.

There are a few unexpected turns here, but the plot is rather weak. The saving grace is Sandra Bullock who never fails to immerse herself in the characters she portrays - always giving a watchable performance. Released in 2002, this DVD makes a good rental for those dull summer nights of re-runs that are still in front of us. Not a suitable movie for the kids, however.
