Palmer gives us another medical thriller to chew on. This time he is out for the HMO's. Palmer has had much experience as an emergency room physician, and he brings his knowledge to bear in this thriller. "Managed Care" is the villain in this mystery, and Palmer delivers us an exciting tale of a killer who will stop at nothing to exact his revenge.

Will Grant is a workaholic surgeon who is about to loose everything. He is a good guy who started a local soup kitchen and still volunteers there. The doctor is laid off due to a mistake that might not be his, and he is a major suspect in a murder. Patty Moriarity is a cop and she is drawn to the doctor. Despite her own problems with a department sex discrimination investigation, Patty refuses to give up on the case.

It's and exciting tale that's very prejudiced in its concept. A few truths leak through, but the romance between the cop and the busy surgeon is flawed enough to call this engaging piece of fiction a romance novel instead of a mystery.
