Fool's Gold reunites Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey (How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days) in a lightweight story about a ne'er-do-well treasure hunter named Benjamin "Finn" Finnegan and his ex-wife Tess. Finn's on a last-ditch quest for a pirate treasure that he needs to pay off a mob boss. Yes, he's been down this road many times and its cost him everything, including his wife. Finn connives Tess into finance his last hurrah, but she insists on following her investment.

Nobody was expecting this movie to be very good, and it certainly met that expectation.a But Matthew McConaughey has that southern drawl, boyish smile, and the ripped physique that makes women fan themselves. Kate Hudson is "cursed" by the close resemblance to her mother Goldie Hawn - she's beautiful, funny, and deceptively intelligent, too. She's proven she can act, and she's definitely got her mother's comic chops, but there's little of the chemistry between she and McConaughey we saw in "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days". This is a decent popcorn movie and worth a rental when that's what you're looking for.
