Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman star in this frightening story of a serial killer who kidnaps a teenaged girl from a posh girl's school in Washington DC. Freeman plays Dr. Alex Cross, a forensic detective who has been searching for his menaical killer for many years, but retired when his partner was murdered by the killer during an undercover operation because he felt responsible. But he is called back to work when the police get a huge break in the case. One of the victims, Dr. Kate McTiernan (Ashley Judd) managed to escape and can identify the killer.
While there are many twists on the classic serial killer theme, the frequent pairing of Freeman and Judd will make many people feel like they've seen this movie before. Still, it's a fine outing for these actors and well worth watching. Ashley Judd rarely gets the credit she deserves for her acting, and the same goes for Carey Elwes, who also stars and gives a great performance here.
