The opening pages of this story take place in Rwanda where Hutu thugs have massacred a tiny village on a Sunday morning while everyone was in church. Father Terry Dunn was powerless to do anything during the slaughter that he was forced to watch. We spend some time viewing his life in Rwanda, which has a certain fascination. The good father, who may not really be a priest at all, decides to seek revenge on the church killers and murders them in cold blood. He flees to his home in Detroit where he ties up with a dish named Debbie who is a stand-up comic. Together they decide to make some fast dough from the mob in Detroit. They plan a wild con, which goes badly. The plot is most interesting when it moves the reader to Africa, but in all this is an interesting read with very little excitement and Elmore's trademark characters.
