This is the story of an ill-fated group of mountain climbers who got stuck on Mt. Hood in February, 2006. I'm sure most people in the US remember the descriptions of how this tragedy unfolded, and followed the story of how the rescuers kept in touch with a couple of the climbers through their cell phones. Self-published by author and accomplished climber Hubert A. Allen, the book tells the story of the victims and the rescuers with the sobering voice of experience. You cannot help but wonder why people like these undertake such dangerous adventures, but their stories are always compelling - even when they end so sadly.
