Billed as competition for the Harry Potter series, this is the second book of The Gideon Trilogy by Linda Buckley Archer. Its a fun-filled time machine fantasy for young readers. At the end of the first book, Gideon The Cutpurse, we left our protagonists separated across time. Peter was accidentally stranded back in 1763 while Kate and the wicked Tar Man have gone back to 21st Century London. Defying NASA's wishes, Kate decides to take matters into her own hands by attempting to rescue Peter. The heroic story of Kate and Peter winds its way through many obstacles as they struggle to protect the time line of their own history while thwarting the criminal Tar Man who uses 21st century technology to elude the 17th century police.
