The best thing we can do for teachers in this country, next to paying them a reasonable wage, is to simply get out of their way. There's not many jobs in this world where not only does everyone think they can do it better than you can, but they enforce their opinions through the rule of law, via school boards and other institutions. By the same token, this book seems to be largely a rehash of simple teaching principles. I didn't find much to hold on to, and I would hope that any teacher who is interested enough in teaching to read books like this would already know most of the things Mr. Burgett is trying to teach.
