Kevin Brockmeier takes us to a phantom city that is not very unlike earth. There are parks and streets, and all of the problems we are familiar with like garages and homelessness. Still, this is different. The city boundaries keep changing, and the folks who live there have just recently departed. They are dead. They can stay in this limbo only until those they left behind no longer remember them. The only newspaper in the city is printed by one Luca Sims. It is a very popular paper because he prints news about the loved ones that were left behind

Back on Earth there is a deadly virus which is spreading very fast. Millions are dying. A research scientist by the name of Laura Byrd has been on an assignment in the Antarctic and in isolation. She is unaware of the terrible disease. After everyone who was sent outside to investigate the vanishings Laura is left alone. She decides to set out herself to find out what is going on.

Now the story is one of survival, and I would not give away the conclusion and spoil it for you. Its a spooky mystery novel that I know you will enjoy.
