The hardcover edition of this book is a bit pricey and may be best for students to use in their studies. The paperback is also a tad expensive, but the contents are well worth it for dance lovers. Janet Lynn Roseman is an interviewer worthy of the dance masters she presents to us. The Choreographers/Dancers who appear in this slim volume are legendary and familiar to fans of the ballet.

Interviews are with Merce Cunningham, Mark Morris, Edward Villella, Michael Smuin, Catherine Turocy, Alonzo King and Danny Grossman. This is a rare firsthand connection to these seven artists. Merce Cunningham tells us about his connection and use of the I-Ching. Villella talks about his years with the great master Ballenchine, giving us insights into the myth that surrounded that renowned choreographer.

Janet Lynn Roseman is a dance critic who is well-educated in the art of dance. She herself is a dancer and teacher. Her method of interviewing reflects her knowledge about the world of dance. She asks a question and then steps gracefully aside so that the interviewee can shine and inform.
