This mystery opens up on a romantic married couple. It's evening, and the couple are on a boat when disaster strikes. The wife is kidnapped, and the husband almost drowns trying to save her. As we progress into the plot, it is eight years since the event. The wife's body was found and Dr. David Beck, the husband, has been trying to get on with his life. Suddenly a message pops up on his computer screen that hints that his wife is alive after all. Beck takes on the hunt for his wife along with the police. As he gets more messages repeating things that only he and his wife could know, the story gets more twisty and interesting.

It is never dull and the end is hard to guess what's coming next through most of the book.
