2005 Arts and Sciences Calendars

FIREWORKS is a great collection that could light up your nights all year. Firefly Books have taken the most impressive (ahh! Ooh!) year of photography that show displays that you can usually only see on the Fourth of July or at one of the Disney theme parks. Several noted photographers contributed to the collection that will light up your wall.

HULA HONEYS is a new 2005 calendar from Chronicle books. You can enjoy this attractive artwork that shows the lovely ladies doing the Hula dance all year long. Put this on the wall and imagine the sunshine that warms the soul of these sexy dancers.

BREAKING BOUNDS comes to us from the Chronicle folks. The wonderful photography of Lois Greenfield is always outstanding. Every month is a picture of one dancer or more who are breaking the bounds of gravity and posing in unique positions to cause us to look and admire. How does she do this? I don't know but I do know that this calendar is a welcome wall decoration every year. The cost is $12.95

ERTE is a title from Browntrout. This year many of the visuals are new and absolutly stunning. Erte is considered the father of the Art Deco style, and is always a pleasure to enjoy his work. The cover is so attractive I stopped to stare. You can put this one up right away because it begins with the month of September 2004 and you will want to keep it up all through 2005. Erte was unique as an artist and his images are still wonderful and filled with beauty.

TRIBAL COLORS is an outstanding contribution to our enduring love of color and other people. This is a calendar that is full of artwork from Papua New Guinea. The traditional tribal spirit masks are displayed in all their bright colors. These images play a vital part of their history and were used in ceremonies. The artwork is by Nathalie Le Riche. It is stunning. This calendar benefits the Rotary Club of Kimbe who are devoted to aiding in Malaria prevention. Tide-Mark produces this one with a price of $12.95.

CANADIAN ART 2005 is an attractive new calendar from Firefly Books. Canadian art celebrates the outdoors and the sights and sound of our neighbors. Its not all just scenery to look at there are flowers and sea sights to savor. My favorite piece of artwork celebrates one month with a great picture called "The Enchanted Owl" by Ashevak. This owl is just wonderful to behold. Looking like a cat that has been startled. The artist has given us a view to enjoy for more than one month if we wish. Each month is a contribution from Canada's best artists.
