Welcome to our archive of October 2006 audiobook reviews. A good
audiobook is very much like the old time radio programs (which are fun to download) because they put on a stage
performance entirely with sound. We can't get enough of them, and now they're available on both cassette and CD, and
many websites now allow you to download audiobooks (as well as e-books) for iPods and other MP3 players. Whether you like to
call it a book on tape, an audiobook, or even a podcast, we present our audiobook reviews for your enjoyment.

Dusty and Lefty, The Lives of Cowboys For your delight and mine, Highbridge has put together 1-1/4 quarter hours of this delightful bit that is just a small part of the whole Prairie Home Companion show. Dusty and Lefty appear sporadically on the award winning radio show. On this disk there are 6 complete sections of sketches from these two ol' cowboys. Both of the cowboys sound like they might riding and chatting or sitting front of a small campfire. They ruminate on their lives and the state of the world. their humor is slow and relaxing until ykou find you are giggling uncontrollable. One has to wonder how much talent Kiellor has been blessed with. There seems to be no end to his abilities to write both long and short tales about cowboys or dectectives as well as great stories he writes about his home town which he calls "Lake Wobegone" This artist sings, too, and we can enjoy all of his talents thanks to the Highbridge people. |

Life, The Universe, and Everything Douglas Adams has left us with the treaure of his writings that are still unique and demonstrate his amazing imagination. He died before his time, but he left us a legacy that will bring enjoyment to ongoing generations. If you remember that in the beginning of the series Arthur Dent learned how to travel off the Earth only seconds before it was destroyed by the Vogons who were clearing the way for an Intergalactic Bypass. In this volume, we meet a group of very unhappy space travellers who are just plain tired of the night sky. They live on a planet called KeiKit and the population of this planet are all robots. Ford Prefect, Arthur, Zaphod Beeblebrox and his female companion Trillian, are traveling in a ship powered by the fabulous Improbability Drive. Trillian is brillant and lovely. Zaphod, you may recall, has two heads which gave the producers about this odd group a lot of trouble recreating them for the movies. Anyway, its up this unlikely group of human and non-human beings to save the Universe, and this tale is just another great episode from the Hitchhiker's Guide saga with hillarious sidebars for us to enjoy. |
