Welcome to our children's books reviews for March 2006. Every month we select some special children's books. We are always looking for new books to stimulate young readers. Whether its a simple children's story book to read a child to sleep, or a book that shows them the enchanting worlds they can find through reading, we continue to search for new treasures in children's books.

Baby Days : A Quilt of Rhymes and Pictures This is a book of quilts and Rhymes. The artwork is all done in quilt style and the information is. specially for teaching words and thoughts to a small child who loves to be read to every night. One of the quilt pictures is a map of a small town where you can point out various places to teach about. The nice little picture book is filled with songs and rhymes that go with the charming pictures of embroidery. This one is good for very small non-readers.

Who Built the Pyramids? Big and lightweight, this paperback book is full of information for the youngster who can read. We are all at some point fascinated with the culture of Ancient Egypt. This childrens book presents the history of the people and the workers who left us these monuments behind. The illustrations are big and quite bright. The small reader will discover the various types of people and skills that it took to build these monuments, who designed the pyramid and who ordered it built, and best of all, just who had to do the hard work of constructing the monumental tombs for thew King. |

The Show-and-Tell Lion This is a picture book about a boy named Matthew. This is "Show and Tell" day at school it's Mathew's turn. He tells the class they have gotten a baby lion at home. He means to tell the class that it is just a story, but he finds that the baby lion has become real for him. He names the lion Larry and every week he writes adventures for his lion.
Cute story.

Five for a Little One With big, fun drawings, and a rabbit to enjoy, this is the tale about being a bunny. The story tells us about the five senses all creatures like us have. Our rabbit has a nose that is noble and can sniff and smell. The tale goes through the five senses with the rabbit in mind. The simple drawings are easy to enjoy, and every child will learn and love this rabbitty tale.

If I Had a Dragon Didn't you always want a dragon for a pet? Well, Morton's brother is way too young to be any fun... But if he were a dragon, they could have great playtime. Wouldn't it be terrific? The dragon idea is perfect. They romp around and have fun until Morton finds out about dragon breath.
Very cute with simple big artwork to enjoy.

Castaway Cats Here is a really big picture book that is supposed to be for kids, but its really for those of us who love cats and good tales. The tale is told in verse about fifteen cats that were shipwrecked. This is all about how they live and survive, and also how they do not always get along. It's a good story to enjoy with lots of cats and artwork that really adds to the cats' personalities and the story of their lives. |

Flames! (Book with fire hovercraft) Here is a little board book that is sure to warm the hear of a young boy or a big collector of Matchbox cars. The book and the little fireboat are on a heavy card. This is a special little boat called a hovercraft. In the book you will find out what these little boats with its firemen can do to save a ship on fire. I would bet that a lot of young imaginations would happily play with this set for hours and hours. |

The Ladder here isd a unique plot for a very attractive picture book. It seems that one day a younng man set up a bright red ladder in a quet spot. He went away but he came back and climbed the ladder. up and up he went. What he foun and if he brought it bac. this plot is very different and it is delightful. Small ones will find this little tale full of imagination and I( bet they would climb up a mysterous ladder if one showed up;/ You better warn them about fiction. |
