Welcome to our May 2004 cookbook reviews archive from
Rainbo Electronic Reviews. It's always fun to browse through cookbooks and then telling you what the great
chefs and restaurants are doing. A good cookbook will guide you through new cooking techniques and introduce seemingly exotic
ingredients. When we write our cookbook reviews, we look for great recipe ideas that the home chef can use,
with inviting text to tempt the tastebuds, and a sense of style. Big cookbooks, small cookbooks, paperback or
hardcover - we love them all and we hope you enjoy this look back at our May 2004 cookbook reviews!

Getting Thin and Loving Food : 200 Easy Recipes to Take You Wher This author got her experience when she was unexpectedly drafted to be the head chef of a spa café whose clientele included lots of movie stars. She had a problem that caused her some worry. She weighed in at 205 pounds. She loved food herself so she invented a cuisine that has earned her a lot of attention. She lost more than 75 pounds and created a show on network television. This is her method in book form for us all to indulge in good food. There are more than 200 recipes with complete instructions and a lot of information about how to prepare and how to stock your own kitchen. "ASIAN CHICKEN STIR-FRY" is one of my favorites in the book. It's easy to prepare and tasty as all get-out. What a challenge for anyone who loves food, but wants to lose weight. This is a great cookbook for these weight-concious times. |

Your Chicken is Cooked: 125 Time-Saving Recipes Featuring Rotiss This is a one-note cookbook that will tickle many a Costco shopper's funny bone. The book has 125 time saving recipes that feature rotisserie chicken. I love the ready-to-eat hot chickens that we pick up at our local Safeway. What a great find! Now I have found a challenge that shows what I can do with the leftovers... and there are always leftovers, 'cause we just can't eat a whole chicken at one meal. The next day you can make pot-pies and the book includes recipes for several 5-minute sauces that will pep up your next day meal. Ms. Brimmer shows us some good dessert recipes to try, too. Everything looks like it might be really good and easy to prepare. There is a wealth of useful information in this amusing cookbook about those chickens that all of us common folks buy right off the rotisserie. |

Most Loved Appetizers Simply put and simply delicious. Take "Beef And Yam Stew" for an example. The full page color picture of the finished dish looks delicious. The recipe calls for peanuts, yams and raisins for part of the mix. Oposite the picture is the recipe and a comment that tells you that when you only need 1/2 can of tomato paste, you can freeze the whole thing, then open the can, push out the contents and slice it in half. Afterward, you re-freeze the rest. The book suggests that you serve this stew with whole wheat crusty buns. It's not complicated, and this recipe could become a family favorite. Some of the recipes are old favorites and there are several new ones. Your family will certainly enjoy the tasty meals you'll find in this excellent cookbook. |

The Food Doctor Diet This book is subtitled "plan to keep weight loss off for life." The Food Doctor presents us with a seven-day-diet plan that looks pretty good. You are told how to prepare for this seven-day-diet. That is there is a shopping list of things you need to do in advance. You will learn about "The Plan for Life" and the "Ten Priciples" you will use. There are planned meals to use and simple recipes that look quite goos as well as easy to make. This method is supposed to be different because it focuses on achieving good health for your digestive system while you're losing weight and as an integral part of that goal. Ian Marber is a well-known nutritionist, an author, and a television personality. He is British and his work can be found often in the magazines and newspapers in that country. Give it seven days and then see what you think of the diet he presents in this new cookbook. We think you'll be as impressed by the results as we were. |
